Driftless Organics came into being thirteen years ago under the name Rainbow Potatoes. It was started by Josh and Noah Engel, ages eleven and nine respectively, and as the name suggests they grew a colorful spectrum of potatoes, more than twenty varieties in all. As Josh and Noah made their way through high school, college and jobs on other farms, they never stopped growing potatoes. As they themselves grew, so did their ambition and the number of crops they planted. What began as a quarter acre farm has now expanded to twenty-five acres of ridge and valley fields in beautiful Star Valley, Wisconsin. Noah and Josh have been joined in recent years by Teresa Cuperus and Mike Lind.  The four of them and their dedicated crew sell at two farmers’ markets in Madison as well as to Co-ops and restaurants in the Twin Cities.
Though potatoes are still our largest crop, we now market raspberries, asparagus, squash, tomatoes, peppers, onions, kale, garlic, collards, strawberries, broccoli and much more.
From the Star Valley Creamery to you, we are committed in growing, washing, packing and delivering high quality produce. And every step of the way, we strive for sustainability; as a practice as well as an ideal.
